I had a great opportunity to attend a men's conference
through my church this past weekend. It was an awesome event with 350 men from
around the country in attendance. We heard great messages from great pastors
and faithful leaders. A great leader of mine referred to these men as
"redwoods" in the faith. Men who have accomplished much and touched
many lives.
Tonight I read John 4:35, "Say not ye, There are yet
four months, and then cometh harvest?
Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for
they are white already to harvest."
In this portion of the chapter we see a multitude of people coming to
Jesus. Jesus sowed seeds of faith into the heart of one Samaritan woman and it
produced a significant harvest just hours later.
I have to admit, I feel God's calling in my life. I feel a
desire to reach thousands at a time, but I often forget that touching one life
at a time can ripple into touching thousands.
If you're like me, then let me encourage you to not forsake
those moments to sow one seed, to touch one life. For as Jesus said, "One
sows and another reaps" (John 4:37).
I pray God will use the seeds you plant today to bring in a great harvest. All great redwoods start out small and were once ordinary saplings. You and I may be ordinary now, but let's purpose to grow into great redwoods one season at a time. Keep reading, studying, praying, and sowing. I pray God will use that to raise you up into the leader you desire to be and that your sowing will create great harvests!
